Severalls Hospital Redevelopment – Airing Shelters
The site of Severalls Hospital in Colchester was the location for a new housing development. This project required nine airing shelters, to be located around the development.
The history of this site and the design of the previous shelters here were a valuable element to this client, and therefore detailed designs were provided to Littlethorpe to ensure all of these elements were captured in the entirety. We took our traditional joinery methods and applied them to the design.
The scale of this project required for these shelters to be built on site.
This type of shelter is typically found on seafronts or on hospital grounds, suitable for open locations with a lot of footfall
