Ferry Passenger Shelter Wooden Bus Shelter

Here at Littlethorpe, we are experienced in creating beautiful bespoke ferry shelters. Creating a ferry passenger shelter needs precision manufacturing to ensure it can take on the harsh weathers that come in from the coast, this also means the material it is manufactured out of needs to be strong and sturdy to take on anything from gale-force winds to torrential rain which is why here at Littlethorpe we can create and install high-quality ferry passenger shelter that can cope with every weathering situation, whether you need it made out of wood or metal, we’ve got the solution.

These shelters can be as large or small as necessary to the port size and can include seating. The seating areas are created to be as comfortable as possible for people of all ages from the elderly to young children.

Ferry Shelter Manufacturer

Due to the coastal positioning of ferry docks, it is extremely important to position the passenger shelter correctly and efficiently. Shelters are put in place to cover passengers from all weather which is why it needs to be facing away from harsh winds. At Littlethorpe we will help with this decision-making process of finding the best spot for shelter to be placed.

Tilbury Ferry Shelter

The Tilbury shelter pictured on this page is situated at Tilbury where the passenger ferry goes over the river Thames to Gravesend. The ferry docks on a floating pontoon which goes up and down with the tide (about 20 feet), the pontoon connects to the shore via a bailey bridge which could not hold the weight of the lorry delivering the shelter.

There are certain elements that need to be taken into consideration in order to position a ferry shelter. We had to make a bogie to wheel the shelter down the 200-foot long bridge. The pontoon is a listed structure so English Heritage had to approve all designs, our client was Thurrock Council. We also worked closely with “Port of Tilbury London” who own and operate the site.

If you are based overseas we can deliver, erect and work towards a situation where we train your local staff to receive and erect our product on a licence basis.
