Craftsmanship in wood

10 Reasons not to buy Hardwood bus shelters :

1.      It will destroy the rain forests -

Not so; by using wood from well managed forests we are ensuring the eco system is maintained to a plan and that the forest is not felled for agriculture.

(Please read our information sheet “ Environmental issues”  and check out the web site www.fsc.org.co.uk).

2.      They will get burnt down -

Not so; Littlethorpe is offering a written five year guarantee against your new shelter not getting burnt down

3.      They will get kicked in -

Not so; Littlethorpe is offering a written five year guarantee against your new shelter not getting kicked in

4.      We won’t get the graffiti off -

Not so; Littlethorpe shelters come with a free care and graffiti removal pack.  A quality Item like our hardwood shelters attract less vandalism in the first place, in addition graffiti can be wiped off easily from the high quality spray finish we apply to every shelter.

5.      Wood will go rotten -

Not so; the timber that will be used for your new shelter is as durable as Oak, Littlethorpe use the same traditional construction methods used in Oak Tudor timber framed houses; these are standing the test of time and so will our shelters.

6.      We won’t be able to maintain them -

Not so; Littlethorpe supply a care pack (with instructions) for low level maintenance, backing this up with a full maintenance service should it be needed.

7.      Maintenance costs will be higher -

Not so; maintenance costs are likely to be lower- most metal shelters have more glass than is necessary, for example; the rear wall of a metal shelter could be either glass or metal sheets, metal sheeting looks unsightly so full length glass panes are usually fitted – even if a shelter is standing against a wall or hedge, consequently glass breakages are going to be higher than they need to be.  A hardwood shelter usually has fairly low amounts of glass because the hardwood boarding is very attractive in its own right, in addition; Littlethorpe can fit heavy duty glass (at extra cost) and will issue a 12 months guarantee on this glass.  Combine this with the long life of a hardwood bus shelter and the costs look very favourable.

8.      It needs a high skill level to assemble and install a wood shelter -

Not so; Littlethorpe shelters are delivered fully assembled and craned into place from a lorry with a crane attachment.

9.      They look nice but will cost the earth -

Not so; Littlethorpe shelters are very competitively priced and because they have a very low carbon footprint the production of our bus shelters will not damage the environment – literally - not costing the earth.  (Please read our information sheet “Environmental issues” and check out the web site;  www.fsc-uk.org

10. Wood is only suitable for conservation villages -

Not so; the status quo is to fit metal shelters everywhere possible unless pestered by a conservation officer.  The Littlethorpe style of shelters fit into the street scene better than metal in every location except; city centres whose architecture is dominated by glass and stainless steel and run down council estates.  Combine this better suitability with low maintenance costs, long product life and fantastic environmental credentials and there is no real contest. Littlethorpe shelters look great in leafy urban areas.
